With the third generation Toyota Yaris (pictured) arriving at Jemca Toyota this summer, expect to see an even more fuel efficient version of this supermini.
The new Yaris retains its ‘compact outside, spacious inside’ philosophy, will be joined by a hybrid drive version which made its debut earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show in September.
Already Toyota’s best-selling vehicle in Europe, the new Yaris has been designed to deliver ultimate comfort levels as well as fuel efficient driving.
Whilst fuel economy and CO2 figures for the new Yaris have yet to be released, all models in the current second generation range produce 120g/km or less of carbon dioxide and meet Euro 5 emissions standards whilst the 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i engine with automatic Stop & Start system, currently gives the best-in-class fuel economy – 54.3 mpg (combined) thanks to the adoption of Toyota Optimal Drive across the entire line-up.
The new hybrid, of course, is set to trump that performance. The forthcoming HSD, expected in spring 2012, takes the Yaris to a new level delivering dual battery and engine performance for even greater fuel economy and even less environmental impact.
